Back by popular demand blues man Doc Maclean returns to South Africa with his Crossbones tour.
Doc's a blues vagabond, writing from the dark side of the road. A songster from the delta tradition, he had mentors like Son House, Peg Leg Sam, and Sam Chatmon. Gifted by the grandchildren of slaves, his material is informed by decades of fearless travel and adventure– by a life lived close to the bone.
Telling songs and singing stories: the Songwriter. MacLean is a collector of tales. His songs reflect a career spent on the Blues Highway with some of it's most significant artists, and by the things discovered along the way.
Bare fingers on dead strings. Doc's resophonic, finger style slide guitar pays sonic homage to Patton, House and Big Joe Williams, while moving forward in a roots based, yet contemporary context.
Doc's 2016 Zulu Skies Blues Tour of South Africa– over 40 back to back shows– was the most comprehensive tour ever achieved by a foreign artist. Doc’s performance at Villa Pascal was instantly Sold Out when the bookings opened. This time for One Night only blues aficionados will experience the Jack Kerouac of the Blues . Limited seating. Booking is essential.
