The Square Set, a number one selling South African super-group from the sixties has revived the music of their time in a show entitled, The Square Set Revival Show. Founder member and bassist Derek Marks is supported by top professional musicians namely Gordon Mackay on keys & vocal, Angela Mitchell lead vocal, Malcolm Cassisa on drums and Clive Fester guitar & vocal.
The Square Set was established in March 1966 by Neville Whitmill, Derek Marks and Keith Moffat and Nol Klinkhamer.
"Silence is Golden" their own composition went on to make it to No1 within 3 months of its release. "That’s what I Want" made it to no1 in South America (both Brazil and Argentina) and Portugal in 1971/1972 respectively. The band charted many more hit parade singles like ‘Carol Carina’ ‘Get me some Help’ as well as produce 3 full albums with great successes in South Africa, South America, Portugal, Angola, Mozambique, Belgium Congo and many more countries.
The revival has proved to be very popular and has played to full houses. They perform their own original songs and showcasing music from 1966 to 1974, with the addition of popular Motown and Soul songs to old and new fans alike. The show also includes slower medleys like ‘Man’s world’, ‘Georgia on my mind’, as well as artists like The Supremes, Tina Turner, Stevie Wonder, The Platters etc.
